Accessible Transportation

Birmingham–Jefferson County Transit Authority (BJCTA), commonly known as MAX Transit, operates fixed-route buses throughout Greater Birmingham. These buses are ADA-compliant, with ramps or lifts and designated wheelchair spaces. You’ll need a MAX Transit wheelchair-accessible ID card (free, replacement costs $5).

If fixed-route buses aren’t an option due to mobility needs, BJCTA offers Door-to-Door Paratransit service throughout Greater Birmingham. ADA-eligible riders can schedule trips during bus service hours.

ClasTran offers “demand-response, curb-to-curb” paratransit service for individuals with disabilities in Greater Birmingham.

Marshall Mobility provides wheelchair-accessible non-emergency medical rides with vehicles that can carry 1-2 wheelchairs, covering medical appointments and similar needs.
