BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (August 11, 2026) — The United States Blind Golf Association (USBGA) has selected Highland Park Golf Course in Birmingham, Alabama, to host the 80th Annual National Blind Golf Championship. The tournament dates are August 19-20, 2026. Blind and vision impaired golfers from throughout the United States will compete in two rounds of 18-hole Stroke play. Practice rounds will be played on August 18th.
Birmingham was chosen in honor of hometown legend Charles A. “Charley” Boswell, one of the most celebrated blind golfers in history. Blinded during World War II, Boswell discovered golf during rehabilitation and went on to win 16 national and 11 international blind golf championships. His first national title came in 1947 at Northland Country Club in Duluth, Minnesota, just one year after finishing runner-up.
Highland Park, Boswell’s home course, remains a symbol of his legacy and a fitting venue for this milestone championship. Media, potential tournament sponsors, and volunteers are encouraged to visit the USBGA website at usblindgolf.com for more information. The tournament point of contact is USBGA President Bob Banks.
